Tables updated to Admiralty Notices to Mariners 2016 Week 10
The Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal
The entry point to the Panama Canal's Atlantic entrance channel has been moved north. Distances for routes through this area may have changed slightly.
Changes in the Gulf of Mexico
Routes in the vicinity of Dos Bocas and Cayo Arcas, Mexico have been adjusted to better respect local pilotage and restrictions. Distances for routes transiting this area may have changed.
Additionally, routes to Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico and to installations in the Cantarell oil field have been adjusted to respect restrictions on how the oil field is approached. Distances to/from these locations may have increased by up to 62 M (but most routes are not so significantly affected).
Changes to oilfields in the South China Sea
Due to the addition of new oil installations, routes have changed in the vicinity of Xijiang, Huizhou and Lufeng Terminals, in the South China Sea. Distances for routes to/from these terminals or transiting near to them may have increased by up to 7.5 M.
Prompted by these changes, a review of the route network in this area was carried out, and distances for certain routes may consequently have been reduced.
The approach to Male, Maldives
The approach to Male has been revised. We now use Bodu Kalhi, as Gaadhoo Koa is now closed to all shipping.
Port approaches reviewed
Following review, approaches to the following ports have been amended to comply with local piloting regulations. Distances to/from these ports may have changed by a small amount.
In addition, minor changes have been made to approaches to the following ports, either prompted by review or due to the release of updated charts or other information in Notices to Mariners. Distances to/from these ports may have changed by a small amount.
Other sea areas reviewed
Minor changes have been made to the route network in the following sea areas, either prompted by review or due to the release of updated charts or other information in Notices to Mariners. Distances for routes transiting these areas may have changed by a small amount.
Other minor changes
The following changes may have caused distances to change by a small amount, or in some cases they may have caused large changes but to only a small number of routes.
