AtoBviaC has now released the BP Shipping Marine Distance Tables for mobile devices. All versions access information over the internet via GPRS, EDGE, WLAN etc. We have tested the system on Blackberry's, the Nokia E61 and devices that support Windows Mobile; in addition we have a version that works on mobile phones. These versions are resource and bandwidth friendly, do not require javascript to run but retain the power of the new Distance Table engine.

Need a distance whilst on the move?
You can now obtain the distance you need from The BP Shipping Marine Distance Tables using an internet connection from your Blackberrytm, PDA, Pocket PC or even your mobile phone. The screen sizes and internet browser implementations on such devices makes the use of our Online Distance Tables web pages impractical. To address this issue, we now have a section of our website specifically optimised for these smart devices. A number of different layouts are available and you can choose whichever best suits the type of mobile device and browser you are using.

The implementation is simple to use, with a search facility to select the ports between which a distance is required by entering just a few characters of the port name and the Country, UNCTAD Code, Position and LoadLine Zone can be displayed for a chosen port. In addition, the Ports location can be displayed on a world map. |

Routing is controllable by selecting a Via point and a Speed setting allows a voyage duration to be calculated and displayed together with the distance. The route used is displayed on a world map, the size of which can be selected.
A Continue voyage option is available to assist in calculating distances involving a number of port calls and a calculation history is displayed to enable overall voyage distances to be (manually) evaluated or distances via different routing points to be compared.

Access to these pages is on an annual subscription basis similar to the Online Distance Tables and a subscription costing GBP 55 per user per year can be purchased online by Credit Card. Company Purchase Orders where will issue a Pro-Forma invoice and activate the subscription on receipt of payment for quantities of less than 10 users are subject to an administration charge.
