PortToPort Standard Edition provides a powerful interface to the Distance Tables. Calculating a distance between two ports with an optional via port and controlling the route used is simple and the display of a route on a scrollable and zoomable world map gives immediate feedback on the route calculated.
Complex voyages involving calls at multiple ports can easily be handled by using the Route Builder.
The Port Selector can be used to assist in locating the port name.
View a detailed description of the route and see the distances to intermediate points. |

PortToPort Professional Edition builds on this functionality and adds:- a more detailed coastline map.
a Voyage Planner providing bunker calculations, in port delays and adjustment of speeds for any leg of the voyage eg canal transits.
Route Warnings will give an indication of any Draught, Width or AirDraught restrictions along the route.
A recent voyage list provides the ability to quickly return to a previously calculated distance and compare routes.
Dockable windows and customisable layouts provide the ability to setup the application to display what you want where you want it. |
 |
Entering the From, To and optionally a Via port name is made easy with the use of drop down lists which automatically complete the port name as you type.
Complex voyages involving calls at a number of ports can easily be setup with the Route Builder, each leg of the voyage having it's own set of routing options. The Port Selector assists in locating the name of the port with the ability to restrict the list displayed to those where the name contains a specified word or where the port is located within a designated area of the map. In addition, the grid display can be sorted on any column and the contents filtered to show only those which match certain criteria. |

The Distance Tables will automatically calculate the shortest route with the least environmental impact. However this may give an impractical route, for example the Suez Canal would be used for a route from the Arabian Gulf to North-West Europe which is not appropriate for a fully laden VLCC. By disabling the Suez Canal, the software will automatically recalculate the distance around the Cape of Good Hope.
The Primary Routing window will allow you to adjust the route used by enabling or disabling the most significant routing points around the world.
Advanced Routing can be used for even more control, for example to control the entry or exit from the Baltic Sea. |
 |
When any distance is calculated, the Professional Edition of the software will generate a report detailing any warnings of size restrictions along the route and by specifying values for Maximum Draught, Width and Air Draught, highlight where any of these restrictions are exceeded.

Within the Professional Edition of the software, the Voyage Planner provides the ability to modify the speed and bunker consumption for both fuel and diesel oil for any leg of a voyage, to include in-port delays and again bunker consumption or stems.
With this information an indication of when the need to stem additional bunkers may arise is given.
